Following the latest transfer report, defender Hector Bellerin, who has been linked with an exit all summer, is edging closer to a return to Spain.
THE LOWDOWN: STRUGGLING TO FIND AN EXIT
Hector Bellerin has been trying to secure an exit since it became evident that he no longer has a future at the Emirates. He spent last season on loan at La Liga side Real Betis, where he won the Copa Del Rey with Manuel Pellegrini’s side. He enjoyed his time there in the 32 appearances he made across all competitions.
Although Bellerin returned to the Emirates for the preseason, while trying to secure a move back to Betis, it never happened after the La Liga club could not match Arsenal’s valuation.
In a bid to secure an exit out of north London, Bellerin tried terminating his contract but that did not also go through. Not to forget that it was revealed as per ElDesmarque, that Atletico Madrid and Arsenal have also begun talks over a potential transfer for the Spaniard.
Bellerin, who swapped La Masia for Arsenal in 2011, is now set to join Barcelona, putting an end to a saga that seems to have plenty of twists and turns.
THE VERDICT: GOOD DEVELOPMENT
It seems Hector Bellerin will leave for free and Arsenal will end up not getting any fee from his transfer. However, it is still a good development for the Gunners, as Bellerin’s exit will mean more wages off the books.
