Arsenal defender Rob Holding believes there will be the usual buzz at the Emirates when the Gunners face West Ham on Boxing Day.

THE LOWDOWN: IMPRESSIVE GUNNERS

Arsenal have been impressive at the Emirates this season, winning every single league game. It has been a strong point under Mikel Arteta this term and will hope to continue that form when the action returns.

Before that, the Gunners were in Dubai to prepare for the resumption of the Premier League and defeated some European clubs to clinch the Dubai Super Cup.

THE LATEST: HOLDING’S DESIRE

Rob Holding, in his interview with Arsenal media, spoke about a variety of things, especially the usual buzz around the Emirates ahead of the Premier League restart.

Asked if the break has been difficult to get used to, he said: “To be honest I think it’s been good. It’s been a good break, a chance to chill out a bit and going to Dubai as well meant we had some warm weather training too, rather than the cold back at home!”

“So it was a good rest and then we were able to work hard and get ready for the restart on Boxing Day. I was able to have a few days off as well, I had five days in Dubai with my dad before he went home. It was really nice – compared to a game every three days that we are used to in December.”

Arsenal went into the break five points clear at the top and Holding admits it was a big meantal boost to himself and his teammates. “It’s a reflection of how we have started the season”, he continued.

“At the start we didn’t say we want to be five points clear by the World Cup, we just took one game at a time and this is where it has got us so far. We’ve had a roadmap for the first 20 games or so, and we’ve just been ticking them off one by one, not looking too far ahead, and just trying to keep it going. We’re in a good position but we know how big the second part of the season will be.”

Arsenal now have a lead to defend and holding believes it is only one game at the moment rather than thinking about the title. He concluded: “There’s always that motivation. I don’t think we are really looking at where we are in the league too much. We have to carry on focusing on what we’ve done to get us into this position and keep taking it one game at a time.”

THE VERDICT: EVERYONE’S EXPECTATION

Just like Holding, every Arsenal fan is simply hoping for a continuation of the form shown in the first half of the season, starting with the game against West Ham on Boxing Day.
