Ian Wright has heaped praise on Arsenal trio Gabriel Martinelli, William Saliba and Ben White after the Gunners’ 3-1 derby win against Tottenham at the weekend.

THE LOWDOWN: DESERVED VICTORY

Arsenal legend Ian Wright has praised Gabriel Martinelli and William Saliba for their performance in the victory over Tottenham. Ben White also received praise, with Wright saying he had the best game in the derby.

Saliba had another stellar performance, meaning he has now played 720 minutes of Premier League football without being successfully dribbled past by an opponent. He has also won possession more times than any other player in the league.

There is only one club in north London. It is evident with Arsenal sitting at the top of the Premier League. During the lunchtime game on Saturday, Arsenal confirmed their status as the kings of north London with a convincing 3-1 victory over local rivals Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham came into the game with a 14-game unbeaten record and sat two points behind Arsenal following two draws this season. The loss to the Gunners means only Manchester City remain unbeaten in the Premier League this term.

Following the victory over Tottenham, Arsenal have now gone four points clear of their rivals in third place. City are chasing closely in second place though, sitting only a point behind the Gunners.

Arsenal legend Ian Wright was excited at the win and has singled out two players for their immense contributions in the north London derby.

THE LATEST: WRIGHT SINGLES OUT IMPRESSIVE TRIO

In a game where literally every Arsenal player put in a great shift, it was hard to pick but Wright singled out those who impressed him the most.

“It’s a great day,” Wright told Match of the Day, as quoted by Metro.

“It’s a phenomenal performance. You see Granit Xhaka, it’s like he has a new lease of life.”

“Gabriel Martinelli and William Saliba are playing like they have Infinity Stones.”

But it was White who Wright was particularly impressed with as he singled out the defender for praise.

“When you look at the way Arsenal have improved – more shots, higher turnovers, possession won in the final third… the one player that epitomised that for for me today was Ben White,” Wright added.

“He was magnificent. Tottenham gave him a lot of space. That was a fantastic performance – the most touches anyone had today was Ben White. So pleased for him.”

THE VERDICT: WELL SAID

Arsenal are playing at the peak of their powers at the moment and a win against rival side Tottenham will surely give them much morale ahead of a tough run of fixtures.

Ben White particularly deserves praise, since deputizing as right-back and has barely put out a wrong foot. He deserves every praise he is getting at the moment and long may it continue.
