Arsenal youth coach Jack Wilshere has revealed his source of inspiration since he became a coach.

THE LOWDOWN: ENTRANCE INTO MANAGEMENT

Before entering management, Jack Wilshere was a former graduate of the club’s academy and made 198 Arsenal appearances between 2008 and 2018. During his time at the club, he won the FA Cup in 2014 and 2015 and the FA Youth Cup in 2009.

Wilshere, who recently retired from football, delved into football management and was named as part of  Arsenal’s youth coaches (U18), which is his first role in coaching.

He took charge of his first game last weekend but his side suffered a narrow defeat at home to Chelsea.

THE LATEST: SOURCE OF INSPIRATION

Arsenal youth coach Jack Wilshere has hinted he is taking a cue from first-team boss Mikel Arteta after watching the club’s All or Nothing series on Amazon Prime Video.

The former England midfielder has been watching All or Nothing, which was filmed last season and taking notes from what he seen from ex-teammate Arteta.

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Wilshere gave his thoughts on the Arsenal series and revealed he previously watched the others well – Manchester City, Tottenham, and Juventus are among the other football teams to have been filmed in the past.

“I think it’s a really good insight for fans but also for people like me who are learning to be a coach,” Wilshere explained.

“Playing with [Arteta], he was a guy who was very focused, very intelligent with the way he trained. As a coach he is very similar. He is very intense, very hands-on with the players, and tries different things, and new techniques to try to help them. I like it. He’s a modern coach. Sometimes it will work, sometimes it won’t. You’ve got to try these things to see that.”

THE VERDICT: GOOD SIGNS

Jack Wilshere has stepped into management easily and it seems he has been paying attention to people who could help him grow in his coaching career. He is in his first job at the moment and can grow to become a better leader despite the injury-laden career he has had.

The 30-year-old has a bright future and his first step into coaching with the Arsenal U18s would go a long way to determining how successful he could be.

Another thing to note is that Mikel Arteta isn’t doing badly and has admirers like Wilshere looking up to him.
