Transfer expert David Ornstein reveals that Arsenal are yet to conclude their summer transfer business, adding that there could be more arrivals before the end of the window.

THE LOWDOWN: ACTIVE ARSENAL

It has been a memorable window for Arsenal so far. Gabriel Jesus arrived from Manchester City and has been a good upgrade upfront with his performances. Elsewhere, Oleksandr Zinchenko has been drafted in at left-back, while erratic fullback NunoTavares was sent out on loan to Marseille.

Other arrivals like Matt Turner, Bernd Leno’s replacement, Fabio Riera and Marquinhos are the ones who haven’t really featured that much, but Arteta and Arsenal have addressed some key positions in the team so far.

THE LATEST: MORE BUSINESS TO BE DONE

There are multiple jobs to be completed over the next few weeks and journalist David Ornstein has been able to spell them out.

Speaking to NBC Sports, Ornstein reported that Arsenal still wants to do more business this summer. The club is looking to sign a winger before the summer deadline, but an addition in that position may depend on Nicolas Pepe leaving the club.

Ornstein maintained that Arsenal are also interested in Youri Tielemans, and Leicester City would sell, but once again, that may require a Gunners’ sale first.

However, Arsenal’s other summer priority is reportedly agreeing on a new contract for Bukayo Saka. As it stands, the Gunners are evidently not close to a new signing or contract announcement.

THE VERDICT: DECISION TIME

It is clear that Arsenal want to strengthen a bit more, but the dependence on some exits is making it impossible for it to happen.

Considering the apparent lack of external interest in Pepe, the condition of his departure also feels like a pretty major roadblock to many things in the team. Negotiating a deal to sign a top winger is hard enough in the current market, but simultaneously relying on the sale of a player on high wages who isn’t getting offers makes it even more difficult.

On the other hand, Lucas Torreira has already vacuated the midfield, so a move for Leicester’s Youri Tielemans could still happen.

However, if Pepe fails to leave, which ultimately means another winger can’t come in. Summer arrival Marquinhos could be given a chance in the first team, having impressed over the weekend.

More importantly, Bukayo Saka’s contract renewal talk should be progressing as of this moment before other potential clubs start looking at pricing him away from the Emirates.
