Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta spoke about Gabriel Martinelli’s contract situation after Sunday’s win over Liverpool.

THE LOWDOWN: MAN OF IMPACT

Gabriel Martinelli was at his very best on Sunday at the Emirates to help Arsenal claim a morale-boosting 3-2 win over Liverpool.

Less than a minute into the game, the winger handed Arsenal the lead before the visitors were settled. Although they fought back to draw level, Gabriel turned provider this time for Bukayo Saka to hand Arsenal the lead once again.

It was one of the evenings that the winger enjoyed himself down the left which forced Liverpool’s manager Jurgen Klopp to replace Trent Alexander Arnold at some point.

After the game, the manager spoke about his performance and his contract situation.

THE LATEST: “OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE”

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta rated Martinelli’s performance as outstanding in his reaction after the game on Sunday.

As reported on Arsenal.com, the manager cited that he made a difference in a crucial game and also went on to talk about the player’s contract situation.

“He’s a great player, I think today he had an outstanding performance against a top defender, against a top team and he made a difference in the game as well as the other players and that’s the next level to step up in these games and actually make things happen to win it

“We don’t get dragged out about a performance, Gabi doesn’t have to show me whether he plays well or not today. What he deserves is clear, his hunger, his determination, his love for this game and you don’t know where he is going to reach, he’s always asking and willing for more.”

THE VERDICT: A DIFFERENCE

The Brazilian was a huge difference in the game for the Gunners and it is clear that he keeps improving with every passing game.

As mentioned by Arteta, his hunger and determination is obvious and is currently loved at the Emirates. His contract situation should be sorted out easily in the coming weeks.
