Barring any changes, Arsenal’s Uruguayan midfielder Lucas Torreira will complete a move to Turkish side Galatasaray.

THE LOWDOWN: TRANSFER LINKS

Torreira, who Arsenal paid Sampdoria £25million for in 2018, has spent the last two seasons out on loan with Atletico Madrid and Fiorentina. Despite a promising start to life at the Emirates, the Uruguayan was not really settled, hence the decision to spend the time away.

Meanwhile, Manager Mikel Arteta has strengthened his side with five new players this summer, while the challenge has been offloading the unwanted players before the transfer window closes – a place where the Uruguayan finds himself.

Torreira has not been short of offers as Seria A club Fiorentina failed on their part to make his initial loan move permanent, while Valencia’s proposal was way off the club’s valuation of the midfielder.

Bernd Leno recently moved to Fulham and Torreira, who is also a part of a long list of players expected to leave the Emirates this summer, is edging closer to his exit, following the latest from a transfer expert.

THE LATEST: TURKISH DELIGHT

Earlier this week, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano stated that Arsenal received a proposal from Turkish giants Galatasaray for Lucas Torreira and that the deal would be a permanent transfer as both the club and the player are keen on making it happen.

A fresh update from Romano indicates that an agreement has been struck between the clubs and everything is now in place for Torreira’s permanent move, which will see Arsenal pocket just over £5m.

Although the 26-year-old has a year left on his current deal at the Emirates, the Gunners are settling for a fee lower than their evaluation of the Uruguayan in order to make the deal happen.

THE VERDICT: DECENT BUSINESS

Arsenal just needed to work something out and get the Uruguayan international his desired moved away from the Emirates. It is still much better than losing the combative midfielder on a free next window.

Torreira’s exit comes just days after Leno completed his own move to Fulham and the club will now try to sort out the future of other players on the unwanted list and hope to finish strongly in the transfer market by bringing in one more midfielder if possible.
