Arsenal and Manchester United are in the race for the singing of Scottish teenager Jack Wylie.

THE LOWDOWN: CONTINUOUS TRANSFER BUSINESS

Even after a brilliant summer transfer window, Arsenal have been quite active ahead of the next transfer window. Players have continued to be linked with a move to the Emirates and some progress has been seen.

On the other end, some situations are still very much unclear and no announcements yet as per the contract extensions of some key players.

However, it appears another emerging talent has been linked with the Gunners and it looks like a straight fight with a Premier League rival.

THE LATEST: STRAIGHT BATTLE

Premier League giants Arsenal and Manchester United are set to slug it out for the signature of Rangers’ talented youngster Jack Wylie.

This is according to the Daily Star and the report claims that two clubs have been monitoring the progress of the 16-year-old wonderkid, who has impressed for the youth sides of Rangers as well as his national side of Scotland.

The Gunners have reportedly been sending chief scouts to keep an eye on Wylie for the past six months, but it seems the exploits of the lad has also caught the attention of United boss Erik Ten Hag.

At 16, he doesn’t have a professional contract with Rangers and that could make the likes of Arsenal or Manchester United trick him to leave the Scottish side. Meanwhile, it is believed that the club are keen to extend the contract of their bright prospect and protect his value.

Recently, Rangers were forced to accept a £350,000 bid from Aston Villa earlier this year, after the English outfit poached wonder-kid Rory Wilson straight from their academy.

I is believed the Glasgow-based club will naturally don’t want the same situation with Wylie, but will definitely accept their fate when the Gunners or the Manchester side come knocking for his services.

THE VERDICT: FOR THE FUTURE

Arsenal are not willing to relinquish their model of signing young players and grooming them for the first team. Wylie would certainly consider Arsenal if an offer is made.

The kid is highly regarded in Scotland and if Arsenal can lay their hands on him, he could be one for the future.
