Reports have emerged that summer signing Marquinhos could be sent out on loan in January.

THE LOWDOWN: THE ANNOUNCEMENT

The Brazilian took his time to announce himself to a lot of the Arsenal fans with his performance against FC Zurich on his debut. After arriving in the summer, he’s been playing with the U21s, where he’s been excellent for them.

But on match day one of the new Europa League campaign, Marquinhos was at his best as the Gunners secured a 2-1 win.

He was one of the few players who starred in the game and given the problems the Gunners have on the wings, he has been labelled a possible solution.

THE LATEST: POSSIBLE LOAN MOVE?

A report has emerged that Marquinhos could be sent on loan despite his brilliant start to his career with the Gunners.

The Brazilian scored and assisted in Arsenal’s 2-1 over FC Zurich in this Europa League opener last Thursday.

Reports fromĀ the Sun suggest Arsenal will allow him to leave the club on loan if a new winger arrives in the January transfer window. Meanwhile, the initial plan was to send Marquinhos out on loan after his move, but he was impressive in the preseason, which led to Arteta changing his mind about the initial plan.

THE VERDICT: WRONG MOVE

Arsenal do not have sufficient players on the wings, so plans to send Marquinhos out on loan is a wrong move at this point. Financially, keeping Marquinhos at the Emirates is more rewarding than getting a new winger in January.

One thing is certain, any incoming by January will definitely play a second fiddle to Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli. So, it makes more sense to allow the Brazilian to continue his development by understudying these established stars and helping the Gunners save some money in the process.

Without any doubt, Mikel Arteta and Arsenal should be keeping players of Marquinhos’ quality, if this season’s goal is to be achieved.
