Arsenal have decided to send youngster Miguel Azeez out on loan to Wigan for the remainder of the season.

THE LOWDOWN: TIME IN SPAIN

Azeez, who is a product of the club’s academy, made his senior debut just a couple of months after turning 18 when Arsenal faced Dundalk away in the Europa League, back in December 2020.

Since then, he has barely had chances in the first team and has been spending time out on loan at different clubs at home and abroad. He was on loan at Portsmouth last season and has been in Spain on loan at UD Ibiza in the current campaign.

But his time in Spain is now over as he will be heading to the championship to team up with a former Gunner.

THE LATEST: BACK TO ENGLAND

Arsenal have announced that midfielder Miguel Azeez has joined Wigan Athletic on loan for the remainder of the season.

Due to interest from former Gunner Kolo Toure, who is the current head coach of Wigan, Azeez was recalled from his loan in Spain and has now joined the Championship side for the rest of the campaign.

The 20-year-old made 11 appearances in total for UD Ibiza and will be hoping to get more games under his belt in the second tier.

THE VERDICT: GOOD MOVE

Azeez enjoyed some minutes in Spain but did not flourish as expected in those given opportunities. This is another chance for him to kickstart his development and possibly return to the Emirates a better player at the end of the season.
