Arsenal have been rather busy in the transfer window and head coach Mikel Arteta has given his assessment of the club’s business so far.

You can see how these signings have affected the Gunners odds at Betfred whilst seeing the managers assessment of where his team are at.

THE LOWDOWN: BUSY WINDOW

Arsenal have signed five players during this transfer window, with the arrival of Oleksandr Zinchenko being the latest of these summer signings.

Along with Zinchenko, Arsenal have completed the signings of Marquinhos, Matt Turner, Fabio Vieira and  Gabriel Jesus. All of these new signings have played during pre-season as well, apart from Fabio Vieira, who is yet to make an appearance.

Arteta knew he had to reshape the squad to suit his vision when he joined Arsenal, and the club has supported him well in this regard, with Zinchenko being the 17th permanent signing since the Spaniard resumed the job in December 2019.

The direction of the team has been reflected in the signings as well, as the club sought to build a team that can challenge for years. An interesting stat comes in the fact that ten of Arsenal’s last 11 signings have been 25 or below, with future value creation being a reason for this.

THE LATEST: A YOUNG TEAM AND  INVESTED OWNERS

Mikel Arteta echoed these thoughts in his latest interview, where he explained the direction of the team and the principles behind the club’s transfer dealings.

“If you look at how all the teams have done it (in the transfer market) and where we were, there was a transition moment where that has to change at some stage,” he said.

“Look at where we are investing the money. We have made big investments, but investments for the future, with huge talent. We have to have the possibility in the future to have the squad that can sustainably be financed by itself. That’s the objective.”

Arteta also showered accolades on the club ownership, showing appreciation for the wonderful support he has gotten so far.

“I’ve been really impressed,” he added. “They were here for two days, we had a lot of time to sit down in a really relaxed way to talk about football and talk about sport in general.

“The vision that they have, the commitment and as well the level of understanding they have of the sport in general is fascinating. I can tell you that I have never seen ownership at that level so committed, close and engaged to bring this club where we want it.

“They show (it) with facts and acts, and their presence here as well.

“I guarantee you that they are fully committed, engaged and really looking forward to taking this club to the top.”

THE VERDICT: THE RIGHT DIRECTION

With the way Arsenal have gone about transfer dealings this summer, it is difficult not to be impressed and expect great fears from the team.

The squad lacked quality depth last season along with some deficiencies in the starting XI. Edu, Arteta and the owners have addressed these issues with precision.

Reports also say Arsenal are not done in the transfer market, which means more quality signings could still come in before the transfer window is over.
