David Moyes has warned potential suitors, including Arsenal, that they will have to break the bank if they want to sign Declan Rice.

THE LOWDOWN: SUMMER TARGET

Declan Rice is one of the best midfielders in the Premier League in recent seasons and has rightly been seen as a target for many clubs including Arsenal.

Following another busy transfer window from the Gunners, they have are already preparing for a move for the Englishman in the summer, and it was reported that the midfielder has also decided to move to the Emirates.

Arsenal will be keen to add the 24-year-old to the squad as a return to the Champions League is on the horizon.

THE LATEST: MANAGER’S BOLD CLAIM

Speaking of Rice’s dazzling display after the 1-1 draw against Newcastle on Saturday, Moyes said: “I don’t know if I need to say the words, I think you can say the words if you watched it the way I saw it.

“I thought he was a top player in the first half, he really was, he showed so many things.

“Undoubtedly Declan is going to be a top player.

“And undoubtedly he’ll be a British transfer record and more whenever he leaves West Ham.”

When asked whether Rice’s departure from the London Stadium is inevitable, Moyes remarked: “I hope it’s not, I hope he sees his time here.

“But look, there’s a lot of talk about it and when you see what’s going about for the prices.

“I think Declan will be blowing that (British record) out of the water, that’s for sure, when it comes around.”

THE VERDICT: EXPECTED PRAISE

Rice has been solid in the Premier League for a while and it is expected that he will leave the London side this summer.

Arsenal are in pole position to land him and will need to prepare a mouthwatering bid in order to make it a reality.
