Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is more than convinced that his side deserved to win and take all three points against Chelsea on Sunday.

THE LOWDOWN: BACK TO THE TOP

Arsenal returned to the top of the Premier League table and they did so in style following a 1-0 victory over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Though the Gunners might have scored just once from a setpiece, it was an overly dominant performance from Mikel Areta’s men, such that Chelsea almost went 40 minutes of the game without a single effort on target.

Club captain Martin Odegaard put in a decent shift but could have been on the scoresheet himself after failing to convert his shot, following a counter-attack late on.

The victory saw Arsenal become the first side to win ten away games at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League, while also meaning that the Gunners are undefeated at that venue for the past three seasons.

THE LATEST: DOMINANT PERFORMANCE

Speaking after the game, Odegaard was quick to dismiss any hint of Arsenal being lucky and categorically stated that they were the better team from start to finish.

“I think it was a big win,” he told Arsenal Media after the game.

“I think we deserved the win and we controlled the game.

“We were the more dominant team throughout the whole game, and we got the goal in the end. The way we protected the box, and the goal after that, and also the smartness we have on the ball to keep it in difficult situations.

“This is the way we want to play, you know? Also away from home, to be able to control these games and be the more dominant team.”

The win was Arsenal’s third in a row at Stamford Bridge in the league, the first time such a feat has been achieved since 1974.

“Yeah I’ve played here three times and I’ve won all of them,” Odegaard added.

“So, we have to keep going this way of course. Yeah but, again a big performance and I’m very proud of the team, and everyone.”

THE VERDICT: MORE OF THE SAME

Arsenal put in a strong performance against a top side and it was evident that they were better than their hosts. It is already becoming crystal clear that the Gunners are no pushovers this time around and it is only just a matter of how much longer they can keep up their impressive form.
