Arsenal have won all three of their pre-season fixtures so far and Mikel Arteta is eager to see that positive run continue.

THE LOWDOWN: PERFECT OUTING SO FAR

Arsenal have enjoyed a positive start to their pre-season campaign and Mikel Arteta is hoping for more of the same when his side take on Orlando City and Chelsea in the Florida Cup Series.

The Gunners’ pre-season campaign began with a 5-1 thumping of Ipswich, after which followed a 5-3 victory over Nurnberg – a game they won in comeback fashion.

The most recent outing, in the US, saw Arsenal brush aside fellow Premier League side Everton with ease, as Gabriel Jesus and Bukayo Saka scored the goals in what was a comfortable 2-0 victory.

A fixture against MLS side Orlando City awaits on Thursday before the Gunners conclude face a keenly anticipated tie against rivals Chelsea on Sunday.

THE LATEST: WINNING MENTALITY NEEDED

Pre-season does not hold water for many and is only a mere formality. For others, it is the same as every other game they want to win. Mikel Arteta admits it is more about maintaining fitness levels and building team chemistry even further but insists he wants to build a winning mentality while at it.

Speaking ahead of his side’s clash against Orlando City and Chelsea, the Arsenal boss said:

“They are test matches so we want to try different things and get the boys up to speed physically,”

“We’re starting to build the minutes ready for the league and at the same time compete against two good teams.”

“We need to get the right impression and the right understanding, and then we start to be better as a team. They’re very talented, but at every point, every game has to be won.

“We’ve been watching [Orlando]; we watched the game they played last Saturday and the previous Saturday. The squad has evolved a lot in the last few years, and it is a beautiful stadium so it should make for a good match.”

After concluding the Florida Cup series, Arsenal and Mikel Arteta will then switch their focus to the Emirates Cup, where they will take on Sevilla on the 30th of July.
