Goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has issued a rather eye-catching assessment on new Arsenal signing Leandro Trossard.
THE LOWDOWN: MAKING A MARK
Arsenal announced the capture of Trossard less than 48 hours before the visit of Manchester United to the Emirates Stadium.
Mikel Arteta’s side opted for the Belgian after the disappointment of Mudryk and he was able to make his mark in the game last Sunday.
The winger was introduced when the game was still 2-2 and he was involved in the Gunners’ winning goal to restore his new side’s five point lead at the of the Premier League log.
THE LATEST: TEAMMATE’S VERDICT
Aaron Ramsdale was speaking to The Fellas podcast about the Emirates Stadium newcomer.
“Trossard is coming in to take someone’s place in his head,” Ramsdale said.
The Arsenal shot-stopper insists the winger isn’t coming in to just be a part, but ready to make his own mark.
“He’s not coming to – it might look like he is coming to be part of the squad, deep down like I was with Leno.
“Like, I’ve come to take Leno’s pace, he’s coming to take one of the front three players’ place.
“So if you start saying “oh, by the way we’ve signed Trossard” before it happens, one of them front three might go ‘hang on a minute’.”
THE VERDICT: SPOT ON
Trossard was impressive in his cameo against Manchester United and Mikel Arteta was pleased with what he saw from the Belgian.
More impactful performances are expected from the 29-year-old going forward and he should be able to do that whether he starts or not.
