Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale has given his reaction to seeing his team’s unbeaten run come to an end in Eindhoven last night.

THE LOWDOWN: BELOW-PAR DISPLAY

Both he and his team played poorly against PSV on Thursday night. The Gunners’ play was all too insipid and so many individual mistakes were evident throughout as Arsenal gave the ball away too cheaply and were punished by their hosts.

In his first European appearance, Ramsdale was culpable for the second goal when he left his goalmouth while trying to punch away a delivery from a corner but he got there late, with Luuk De Jong heading into an unguarded net to double his team’s lead.

THE LATEST: RAMSDALE NOT MAKING EXCUSES

Ramsdale has subsequently given his thoughts on the team’s horrible display in the Netherlands on Thursday night.

The Englishman, who appeared before the BT Sport cameras, has his say about his first European debut not going according to plan.

The 24-year-old stated: “A disappointing end and obviously our 10-game unbeaten run has come to an end as well. Really disappointing to make a mistake but we’re looking forward now, we’re finished with this tonight. What’s gone on on the pitch we can’t change right now so Sunday it’s full focus on the Premier League and getting back to winning ways.”

When asked about Arsenal’s performance on the night, Ramsdale believes there is no need to find excuses because they were not just good enough on this occasion.

He admitted: “There were a number of things. We’re a good enough team not to be blaming things, the pitch etc. There’s no point talking about that. We just didn’t compete too well off the ball.

“Credit to them as well, they were good with how they set up. It doesn’t help when you come away from home when your goalkeeper makes a mistake, two-nil and an uphill battle. It’s one which we couldn’t get back from.”

“Even when we win it’s a learning curve because there are things that can be improved, individual things we can learn and collectively. Like I said, we’ll digest this now, the manager will go through it with us in the morning then we’ve got 48 hours until Nottingham Forest on Sunday.”

THE VERDICT: POSITIVE REACTION NEEDED

Arsenal have been poor in the past two games against Southampton and PSV and some might begin to change their stance on the Gunners’ chances of finishing in the top four, never mind keeping their position at the top of the Premier League.

Hence, a reaction is needed in the game against Nottingham Forest this weekend, both from Ramsdale and from the team as a whole.
