Arsenal stars Aaron Ramsdale and Bukayo Saka have been handed call-ups to the England squad by Gareth Southgate.

THE LOWDOWN: GOOD FORM IN THE NEW SEASON

Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale and Bukayo Saka have been somewhat impressive for Arsenal this season. In goal, Ramsdale has been the man for Mikel Arteta in the first six Premier League games of the season, the same goes for Bukayo Saka on the right wing.

In equal measure, both players have contributed to Arsenal’s run and a brilliant start to the season which has seen the North London outfit move to the summit of the Premier League this term.

THE LATEST: ENGLAND CALL UP

Arsenal duo Aaron Ramsdale and Bukayo Saka are in England’s squad for the upcoming Nations League encounters.

The games against Italy and Germany, which will hold on the 23rd and 26th of September respectively, are the last set of group A games for the Three Lions before the Nations League comes to a close for the season.

With the World Cup on the horizon, Gareth Southgate hopes to wrap up his side’s preparations for November’s showpiece in Qatar by naming a 28-man squad with Saka and Ramsdale being the only Arsenal players to have been called up.

Saka, who made his debut in 2020, has recorded 18 caps for England since then, while Ramsdale has only three national caps under his belt since making his debut last year.

THE VERDICT: WELL DESERVED

Ramsdale and Saka have played a key role at Arsenal in the past months and are still going strong. So, their call-up did not come as a surprise, it is well deserved in all aspects. Saka and Ramsdale will certainly have their focus on making the final cut for the World Cup squad in November.

One man who should have made the squad is Ben White, whose surprise omission has generated a heated debate on social media. He has been brilliant for Arsenal this season and would be utterly disappointed for not making the cut. However, the World Cup is still far away and changes can happen before then.
