Aaron Ramsdale had hailed the inclusion of Arsenal teammate Ben White in England’s World Cup Squad.

THE LOWDOWN: EXCELLENT WHITE

The versatile White has been impressive in a new role for Arsenal this season. After seeing his side’s right-back choices pick up injuries, Mikel Arteta settled for White in the role and he has been excellent since the season started.

His streak of stunning performances for Arsenal this term has helped his cause for this year’s Qatar World Cup, and it was not surprising that he got called up to the Mundial by Gareth Southgate.

THE LATEST: TEAMMATE’S PRAISE

Aaron Ramsdale revealed his joy at seeing Arsenal teammate Ben White rewarded with a place in England’s World Cup squad.

Ramsdale and Saka were part of the Three Lions squad at Euro 2020 but it’s a first international tournament call-up for White, though Ramsdale insists it’s fully deserved.

“I found out today at about ten to 12, we got a text from Emily, our player liaison,” Ramsdale told Drive.

“I actually found out that Ben was in the group first and we were all buzzing for him and it kind of filtered through that me and Bukayo were in as well.

“The first reaction was we were just buzzing for Ben White.”

“He’s been really impressive,” Ramsdale continued. “Right-back is not his main position but it’s one which he’s excelling in at the moment.

“Obviously there are a few injuries there in the group at the moment and him playing so well for Arsenal has helped him.

“I’m made up for him because he shows what type of player he is… he’ll give his all in any position and dedicate himself to it as well.”

THE VERDICT: GOOD FEELING

It’s a good thing to see White’s performance being rewarded by Southgate with a place in the World Cup squad. Hopefully, he is going to get some minutes in Qatar.
