Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is reportedly eyeing a move for Real Madrid winger Marco Asensio.

THE LOWDOWN: CONSTANT CHASE

Arsenal have been on the case of Asensio for a while now and this has been ongoing since he first signed for Real Madrid back in 2014.

The winger was offered to the Gunners in the summer after a move for Pedro Neto broke down and it appears Mikel Arteta is keen to revisit the deal.

Meanwhile, Arsenal remain in search of a winger to help reduce the workload on Bukayo Saka and that may have led them to revive an interest in the Spanish winger.

THE LATEST: NEW UPDATE

According to a report from Spain, Mikel Arteta is very keen on bringing Marco Asensio to the Emirates.

During the summer, it was reported that Arsenal made an offer of £34m for Marco Asensio, but a move didn’t happen.

As it stands, the 26-year-old could well be available for a reduced price of €25m in January as he enters the final year of his contract in Spain.

However, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti reportedly wants him to remain at the club, but there has been no sign that Asensio will sign a new deal at the moment.

The player himself recently stated that he was happy at the Spanish capital though there might be more to those comments.

THE VERDICT: PATIENCE

Arsenal may have to exercise more patience about the search for a left-footed winger this winter. The World Cup is already underway and it is expected that some players could be revealed, while stock of others could drop.

By and large, the Gunners should be in no hurry to make a deal happen. Things would become clear as the next transfer window approaches.
