Premier League legend Alan Shearer has hailed Arsenal winger Gabriel Martinelli after his wonderful performance against Liverpool.

THE LOWDOWN: MAN-OF-MATCH PERFORMANCE

Gabriel Martinelli had a wonderful performance against Liverpool on Sunday. He was key to Arsenal’s 3-2 win. The Brazilian opened the scoring after just 58 seconds, finishing off Martin Odegaard’s through-ball.

The 21-year-old gave Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joe Gomez a torrid time throughout the game. He was Arsenal’s biggest performer and a threat down the left.

He was named man-of-the-match in the game and he has now been praised by a Premier League legend for that performance.

THE LATEST: UNSTOPPABLE MARTINELLI

Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli has been included in Alan Shearer’s latest Premier League Team of the Week.

The 21-year-old was impressive for the Gunners as they beat Liverpool at the weekend. His efforts in the game saw him make Shearer’s XI, alongside Saka and Takehiro Tomiyasu.

And the Premier League icon said Liverpool simply couldn’t cope with Martinelli.

“Liverpool couldn’t handle his runs in behind, his quick feet or his vision,” he wrote on the Premier League website.

“He fully deserved his goal and assist.”

Martinelli has had to bide his time at Arsenal, but now he’s in full swing and looking unstoppable.

THE VERDICT: KEEPS GETTING BETTER

Martinelli keeps getting better in the Arsenal shirt. He recently said he wants to emulate a particular Arsenal great and he is currently on that path. He has been able to score four times and contributed two assists in the Premier League this season.

However, he needs to stay grounded and committed to the Arsenal project in order to reach those desired heights. For the time being, he is doing absolutely great and has a bright future ahead of him.

At the moment, he has already staked a claim as a first-team player and Mikel Arteta will be hoping the player stays injury free.
