According to a report, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been handed a sizeable transfer budget for the January transfer window.

THE LOWDOWN: EXCELLENT SUMMER BUSINESS

Arsenal enjoyed remarkable success in the summer as the likes of Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko and several other top names made the switch to the Emirates.

On the pitch, they have been able to build a team topping the Premier League log and that has secured a spot in the Europa League knockout stages as well.

Despite all of this, the hierarchy at Arsenal are not satisfied yet and there are plans to bring in more additions in January. Manuel Locatelli and a host of other names have been mentioned already.

THE LATEST: BUDGET

According to the Sun, Arsenal’s KSE (Kroenke Sports & Entertainment) owners are set to hand Mikel Arteta a January transfer budget of £50m to help bolster his squad.

The £50m budget is expected to finance the signing of a new central midfielder, a defender and a backup for the everpresent Bukayo Saka and the other areas targeted by Arteta and technical director Edu Gaspar.

Meanwhile, long-term absentees like Mohamed Elneny and Emile Smith Rowe are expected to return from their long-term injuries after the 2022 FIFA World Cup. By the time that happens, the team would have covered significant areas in the team.

THE VERDICT: GOOD MOVE

The Arsenal owners have taken a huge step towards helping Arteta and his team reach their goal by the end of the season. Being at the top of the league doesn’t guarantee a finish in the top four but Arsenal are working hard to ensure it happens.

With the current squad and a few additions in the winter, Arsenal could finish in the top four comfortably.
