Arsenal defender Cedric Soares is reportedly having discussions with Fulham over a move.

THE LOWDOWN: MIXED TIME

Cedric joined Arsenal initially on loan in 2020 before making the move permanent and went on to make a chunk of appearances for the Gunners. Coming into this season, he was expected to share the right-back position with Takehiro Tomiyasu.

However, both of them suffered injuries leading up to the season, prompting Mikel Arteta to settle for Ben White in the role. The former Brighton had slotted in perfectly and his currently the number one option in the role.

With game time difficult to come by for him, there is a report that he might be considering a move away from the Emirates.

THE LATEST: FULHAM LINK

Arsenal defender Cedric Soares is reportedly discussing with Fulham over a move to West London.

According to a report by CalcioMercato, he is ‘talks’ with the Cottagers ahead of the January transfer window. However, Marco Silva’s side aren’t the only team touted to be interested in the Portuguese international, with European pair Bayer Leverkusen and Villarreal also mentioned as potential suitors.

THE VERDICT: NEEDS TO MOVE

Cedric has played only two times for the Gunners this season and it is clear that he needs a move if he wants to be playing games regularly.

Arsenal are well covered in the role and could afford to allow him leave in January. By doing so, it will help the player and also allow the club to free up some space in the squad.

He has already fulfilled his long-term dream of playing for Arsenal and so far, he has been a loyal servant to the club. It remains to be seen if the Gunners will sanction a move for him in the coming window or will rather let it all play out until the end of the campaign.
