Midfielder Declan Rice has reportedly chosen Arsenal over Chelsea this summer so he can work with Mikel Arteta.

THE LOWDOWN: TRANSFER BUSINESS

Arsenal have enjoyed huge success in recent transfer windows. Last summer, the Gunners snapped up Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City and the duo have been playing a huge role in the side’s push for the Premier League title.

This January, the North London side missed out on Mudryk, which was considered a loss, but have been able to bring in Trossard, who went ahead to play a part in Arsenal’s win over Manchester United on Sunday.

Mikel Arteta’s side are working hard on and off the pitch and have been looking ahead to the summer to bring in more players to improve the squad.

THE LATEST: PLAYER’S CHOICE

According to a report in The Guardian, Declan Rice is leaning towards joining Arsenal this summer because it would give him the chance to play for Mikel Arteta.

The Guardian adds that Rice is Arsenal’s top summer target, and they are increasingly confident of doing a deal ahead of Chelsea.

Rice is keen to play under the tutelage of Arteta, having seen the Spaniard turn his current Arsenal side into title contenders. In addition, the English midfielder is also keen to play in the Champions League, which looks significantly more likely at Arsenal than Chelsea right now.

Meanwhile, The Athletic reported that Arsenal are planning a move for Rice, and that whilst West Ham won’t sell this month, they admit internally that they will have to sell this summer to get good value.

THE VERDICT: GOOD NEWS

Arsenal are currently short in midfield and would certainly get better with the potential arrival of Rice in the summer. Hopefully, West Ham’s asking price will be favourable for the Gunners to make the move a reality.
