Arsenal‘s Gabriel Magalhaes, who has been the subject of interest from other clubs during the transfer window, has now disclosed where his allegiance lies.

THE LOWDOWN: CONTINUOUS INTEREST

Gabriel Magalhaes was a £27m signing from Lille two years ago and he has grown to become one of the important players for the Gunners. The Brazilian has looked at home since his move and started 35 times in the Premier League for Mikel Arteta last season.

Although Gabriel is on a long-term deal at Arsenal, he has been attracting interest from teams outside the Premier League, especially Juventus.

How his departure, or indeed if he stayed, would affect betting attracts worldwide attention, for instance at new zealand betting as the Premier League fascinates football fans, and sports fans in general, around the world.

Links started emerging in April and during that period, Gabriel scored for Arsenal in their 2-1 win at West Ham and his celebration looked like a response to the rumours at the time. The left-footed defender ran towards where the Arsenal fans were seated and pointed toward the badge on his shirt, signifying that he’s not leaving the side anytime soon.

Recently, reports emerged that the Brazilian is one of Juventus’ summer wishlist and that they would love to have him as a direct replacement for Matthijs de Ligt who left for Bayern Munich. However, a follow-up report from Di Marzio stated that the defender categorically said ‘NO’ to Juventus.

Despite the strong links and reports, Juventus never made an official bid for Gabriel. It appears the Brazilian was also not interested in the move and completely believes in the Arsenal project under Mikel Arteta.

In his interview with Sky Sports, the player himself confirmed that he is staying put at the Emirates.

“It’s always nice to get that recognition but I’m really focused on Arsenal,” Gabriel said.

“I am very happy here. I’ve got a good relationship with my teammates and I am fully committed to the project.

“I am convinced that, with the project we have, we can achieve a lot.”

THE VERDICT: GOOD DEVELOPMENT

This is soothing news to all Gunners fans at this time. Mikel Arteta and Edu have worked tirelessly over the summer to bring stars like Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Marquinhos, Matt Turner and Fabio Vieira to bolster the squad ahead of this campaign.

At a time that Arteta’s desired team was taking shape, losing Gabriel would have been a step backward. We have already lost Pablo Mari, the other left-footed centre-back in the team, so keeping Gabriel at the club became important and is a big win for the side.

In the current campaign, he has started the Premier League games alongside William Saliba and Ben White in defence, which means he is very relevant to everything Arteta is trying to put together at the Emirates this season.

Without any doubt, it is a good thing to see Gabriel’s commitment to stay at the club beyond this summer.
