Atletico Madrid are reportedly set to go head to head with Arsenal in the race to sign the Udinese’s Nahuel Molina.

THE LOWDOWN: TERRIFIC CAMPAIGN

Molina has been one of the better players in the right-back position in Serie A this season.

The Argentine international has scored an astounding eight goals and provided four assists this term, which are impressive numbers for a full-back.

The 24-year-old is attracting a lot of interest for his services this summer with Premier League, La Liga and Serie A clubs or scouring for his services so a move away from the Italian outfit looks increasingly likely.

The Gunners were reportedly leading the race to sign the marauding full-back, but have not been joined in the race by a Spanish giant.

THE LATEST: FRESH COMPETITION

According to a report from Sky Sport Italia, Arsenal are set to face fresh competition from La Liga side Atletico Madrid in the pursuit of Nahuel Molina.

The Udinese right-back has emerged as a transfer priority for Diego Simeone ahead of the new season, with the Atleti coach keen on reinforcing his options on the right-hand side of the back four.

Molina’s agent is aware of the interest from both clubs and has promised to evaluate all the offers his client can get and assess the best possible destination for the player’s development in the years to come.

THE VERDICT: A MUST HAVE

The £9m-rated attacking full-back has indeed enjoyed a remarkable season for the Italian outfit, and certainly looks ready to take a huge step in his career after impressing in Serie A.

The 15-time Argentinian international has established himself as one of Serie A’s most influential and devastating full-backs since his move to Udinese in 2020.

He featured in 67 games, scoring ten goals and registering a further nine assists. and also finished the club’s third top scorer in Serie A this season with seven, a sensational feat for a defender.

Amongst players in the whole squad to have featured in more than 1,000 minutes of action, he’s provided the fourth-most key passes (1.24), the sixth-most final-third passes (2.19), the second-most passes into the penalty area (1.63) and the most crosses (0.71) highlighting his remarkable influence and effectiveness in the final third for Gabriele Cioffi’s men this season.

Defenders with that much goal involvements are certain must-haves, which means Arsenal should indeed go toe-to-toe with Atletico for Molina’s services.
