Juventus are heavily linked with a move for Gabriel Magalhaes but that interest seems dead on arrival, taking all factors into consideration.

THE LOWDOWN: JUVENTUS EYE GABRIEL AS DEFENSIVE ADDITION

Juventus have already secured the signatures of Paul Pogba and Angel Di Maria but will need to make similar signings in defence as well. Veteran defender Giorgio Chiellini recently completed a move to MLS side Los Angeles FC. Elsewhere, the future of Matthijs De Ligt remains rather uncertain. As it stands, it is more a case of where he would be playing next season than if it would be with the Bianconeri.

In a bid to strengthen their backline, Juventus have identified Arsenal star Gabriel Magalhaes as the man to fill in their likely vacancies in defence. On paper, it makes sense to see the Italian giants pursue such a move.

At 24, Gabriel still boasts a high potential for improvement and Juventus want a player that can come in with much value on that front. He has already shown his abilities and has international experience to his name as well.

Last season, Gabriel’s 1.4 tackles per game ranks higher than De Ligt and Bonucci, who managed 1.1 and 0.6 respectively. To sum it up, the Brazilian is a left-footed defender and could come in to fill that void in the heart of defence. Chiellini’s move to the MLS means the Old Lady are now without a left-footed centreback.

Admittedly, a move makes sense for Juventus but what could his departure mean for Arsenal?

THE LATEST: JUVENTUS TO TEST ARSENAL’S RESOLVE

As per Italian outlet, CalcioMercatoWeb, Juventus are ready to go all in for Gabriel with an official bid. The Italian giants are preparing to send Arsenal a £25 million offer, alongside midfielder Adrien Rabiot on a permanent deal and Arthur Melo on loan.

Gabriel’s humble wages of  £50,000 per-week might be easy for Juventus to match but getting Arsenal to agree to a deal remains the ‘impossible’ mission.

THE VERDICT: GABRIEL IS NOT FOR SALE

In the absence of a mega bid, which Juventus clearly have no plans to offer, there is no way Arsenal would consider letting Gabriel leave.

The Brazilian only joined the Gunners two seasons ago in a £27million move and has seen his stock rise since them. He has been one of the most consistent names under Mikel Arteta and formed a fairly solid partnership with Ben White in the 2021/22 campaign, helping Arsenal to 12 clean sheets.

William Saliba’s return to Arsenal after his loan spell with Marseille, will see the Frenchman strengthen Mikel Arteta’s backline with much options. It is unlikely he is thrown to the thick of the action immediately. The added fact that Gabriel has three years remaining on his current contract means Arsenal are under no pressure whatsoever to sell.

Just recently, Daily Star journalist Paul Brown also shared a similar opinion, claiming it would be a surprise to see Arsenal let him leave.
