Hector Bellerin might be back at Arsenal but it remains evident there is no room for him at the club.

THE LOWDOWN: READY TO LEAVE

Hector Bellerin joined Arsenal as a teenager and he went into the academy. After a decade at the club, the Spaniard decided he needed a new challenge elsewhere. The club listened to him and agreed on a loan move to Real Betis.

The right-back played 32 times for the Spanish club, helping them to the Copa Del Rey title. However, he is now back at the Emirates, although his stance remains the same.

Arsenal currently have two right-backs in Takehiro Tomiyasu and Cedric Soares. Ainsley Maitland-Niles is also an option in that position. With the available options and Bellerin’s willingness to leave, it is clear that his time is up at the club.

Since his recurrent injuries, the Spaniard has not looked the same as his early days at the club. He lost his pace and it never quite worked well since then.

Villarreal submitted a bid but the player rejected the deal, insisting that his only interest is returning to Real Betis.

THE LATEST: ARSENAL SET TRANSFER PRICE TAG

According to reports from Fichajes, Arsenal are ready to sell Hector Bellerin but want €10 million for the right-back. There has been interest from clubs across the continent for the Spaniard, with Real Betis his preferred destination. The current Copa Del Rey champions will make a late decision on signing the Arsenal full-back.

Pending the transfer move, Bellerin is back at Arsenal and has joined the squad on their pre-season tour to the United States of America. However, he has no intention to stay at the Emirates, and with one year left on his contract, the club will likely cash in on him.

THE VERDICT: HIS TIME IS UP AT ARSENAL

Arsenal have no need for Bellerin in the squad anymore. Once upon a time, his greatest weapon was his pace, which often helped him make recovery runs when he overlaps. However, that is no longer visible, alongside his injury-record which continues to plague his career.

With Tomiyasu’s technical security in Mikel Arteta’s build-up style, Bellerin’s abilities have become irrelevant to the team. Combine that with his £110,000 per week wages, he becomes a liability to the club.
