Italian giants Juventus are reportedly willing to offer Arthur as part of a deal to sign Thomas Partey from Arsenal.

THE LOWDOWN: KEY MAN

The Ghana international has become a pivotal part of Mikel Arteta’s setup at Arsenal. The former Atletico Madrid midfield destroyer endured a mixed bag of a debut season, with injuries and adaptation to the Premier League taking their toll on the player.

However, the towering ace has made his mark with the Gunners, becoming one of their best performing stars this term, averaging a respectable of SofaScore rating of 7.00 after 23 starts.

Arteta is counting on Partey to become an important part of his side next season and will more than likely not be open to selling him in the next window. However, reports have now emerged stating that Juventus are likely to push for the midfielder this summer.

THE LATEST: TAKE ADVANTAGE

According to Spanish outlet AS, the Turin outfit could be preparing a push to sign Partey to reinforce their midfield. The Serie A giants are reportedly willing to include Arthur Melo in the deal, who was of interest to the Gunners back in January.

The report from AS insists there are problems between the player and the Arsenal manager, with the Serie A side looking to take advantage hence, the north Londoners may be willing to cash in on the Ghanaian.

They also mention Arsenal have slapped a €35m (£29.9m) price tag on the midfielder, which is significantly lower than the sum they paid for him in 2020. The additional claim in the report states Juventus could look to lower that asking price by including Arthur Melo in the deal.

THE VERDICT: DIFFICULT TO REPLACE

Despite the reported friction between Arteta and the £36m-rated midfield anchor, the Gunners should reject any advances for the player and keep him at all costs.

A mix of injuries plagued his first campaign at the Emirates but in 2022, he has come alive and is now establishing a combative partnership alongside the much-maligned Granit Xhaka.

He came back from AFCON and was sent off in his first game but in such a young team, he has stepped up with consummate aplomb.

Indeed, as well as providing two goals and one assist in 24 Premier League outings this campaign, the £36m-rated star has excelled in his defensive contributions for the club.

As per FBref, before his injury against Crystal Palace in April, he won the most tackles (41), the 2nd-most interceptions (33) and performed the 2nd most successful pressures (103) amongst the squad.

In fact, in all these metrics, he is the highest performing central midfielder at the club, which suggests that the 34-time Ghanaian international will be difficult to replace if the north London outfit were to sell him this summer.

AND in other Arsenal news, what would reported Arsenal target bring to the Emirates?
