Arsenal have reportedly made Napoli and Nigeria international striker Victor Osimhen their top transfer target this summer…

THE LOWDOWN: STRIKER SEARCH

The Gunners reportedly remain on the hunt for a new striker in this summer’s transfer window, with the contracts of both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah expiring at the end of the season.

While either of those could potentially pen a new deal, there is certainly scope for Mikel Arteta to bring in reinforcements to boost his attacking options.

One player that has reportedly emerged on Arsenal’s radar is the Serie A hitman and a major update from a Turkish journalist has emerged as Arsenal look to secure his signature.

THE LATEST: TOP TARGET

According to Ekrem Konur, the north London outfit have made the Nigerian forward their top target this summer, as they look to address their pressing need for a goalscoring number nine.

This comes after Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, speaking to wettfreunde, said:

“I can’t imagine him being sold for €80m because he was signed for €70m. Aurelio de Laurentiis is very smart when it comes to signing and very tricky when he has to sell. So I don’t think he’s going to let Osimhen go for under €100m – minimum. So it will depend on which club in the Premier League will have that money for a single player.

VERDICT: A NO BRAINER

Osimhen would be a tremendous signing for the Gunners based on his record of a goal every 127 minutes this season.

Such a record means it’s only right that Arteta makes the 18-time Super Eagles international their top summer target as the 23-year-old possesses the quality and star power to fire the club to trophies in the coming seasons providing they sign him.

Journalist Zach Lowy believes that the 23-year-old has “everything it takes” to become “one of the best strikers of his generation”, while Emmet Gates has billed the Nigerian’s potential as “frightening.”

Indeed, the £54m-rated hitman has bagged 17 goals in 29 appearances this season and has 27 strikes in 59 matches for the Azzurri overall (via Transfermarkt), a sensational record that top clubs around Europe can only dream of.

Arsenal will be looking to make that a reality in the transfer window seeing as they’re currently struggling for goals consistently from their frontmen, especially Lacazette who’s only recorded four goals so far this campaign.

So KSE breaking the bank for the former LOSC Lille man is absolutely a no-brainer.

AND in other news, Arsenal defender highly likely to leave this summer after sparkling season in Spain…
