Sports journalist Ryan Taylor has dropped a promising update on the future of reported Juventus and Barcelona target Gabriel Magalhaes…

THE LOWDOWN: BARCELONA LINKS

Spanish outlet Sport recently reported that Barcelona were interested in a move for the defender due to Xavi specifically targeting a left-footed centre-back, which the Brazilian’s profile fit the bill for the Spanish giants.

The report went on to claim that the Camp Nou coach is an admirer of the former Lille defender and the prospect of signing the Brazilian this summer had already been discussed by Barcelona’s hierarchy.

They also reported that the La Liga outfit would be willing to offer players in exchange as part of their deal with Arsenal, including Memphis Depay, midfielder Riqui Puig and goalkeeper Neto, who the Gunners attempted to sign in 2021.

The colossal defender has since poured cold water on those reports, stating that he is very happy at the Emirates, but according to reports, Italian giants Juventus have also signified their interest in the defender.

However, the Daily Express journalist has addressed the future of the Gunners star, which could come as some pleasing news to the Emirates faithful.

THE LATEST: MORE THAN HAPPY

Tweeting on Monday, Taylor stated:

“Gabriel Magalhães is more than happy at Arsenal despite firm interest from both Juventus & Barcelona. His full focus is on helping #AFC secure top-four finish & furthermore, consolidating his place in Brazil’s World Cup squad.”

THE VERDICT: KEEP AT ALL COSTS

The Daily Express journalist’s comments will come as a welcome relief to the Gunners faithful.

The uncapped Brazilian has enjoyed an impressive season at the Emirates, forming a solid centre-back partnership with Ben White to help Arsenal maintain a strong challenge for the top four.

So far this season, the £27m-rated defender has been rewarded with an impressive SofaScore rating of 7.03 for his performances.

In 31 league starts, he’s hit four goals, contributed to 12 clean sheets, averaged 0.4 interceptions, 1.4 tackles per game and also winning 69% of his ground duels and 58% of his aerial duels, highlighting just how crucial he’s been to Arsenal’s defending this season.

He also ranks third in the English top-flight for percentage of dribblers tackled at 67.7% showing just how combative and colossal he is when facing up against his opponents.

With the £51k-per-week star at the heart of the north London outfit’s defence, Arteta’s men are guaranteed security at the back showing just why they must keep the Brazilian at all costs this summer.

AND in other news, the Gunners are interested in Barcelona loanee Philippe Coutinho
