After potentially losing out on a deal to bring Raphinha to the Emirates, Arsenal ‘could make inroads’ in a pursuit of former player Serge Gnabry due to his contract situation at Bayern Munich.

THE LOWDOWN: SET TO MISS OUT

The Gunners look set to miss out on a deal to bring Leeds United forward Raphinha to the Emirates Stadium, as the Brazilian closes in on a move to fierce rivals Chelsea this summer.

Mikel Arteta will be scouring the market for alternatives and may have the perfect solution in a former Gunners star Gnabry.

The sensational Bundesliga forward, out of contract in 2023, has been at the centre of exit reports recently as his club still fail to agree terms over an extension.

Bayern, as a result, are currently under pressure and face the possibility of having to sell him for a profit while they still can.

Arsenal have been linked over the past month or so, and Jones has stated it’s an avenue that the Gunners could explore, due to his contract stand-off with the German champions.

THE LATEST: MAKE INROADS

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, he said:

“There has been some talk of Gnabry to Arsenal, and his contract situation has meant that’s more intriguing.

“I’m not sure it’s the level of club he would have in mind but let’s see if they can make inroads as a back-up plan.”

THE VERDICT: DIFFICULT DEAL

The 26-year-old amassed an astonishing 17 goals and ten assists in 45 appearances across all competitions last term, propelling himself to phenomenal levels and becoming one of the continent’s most destructive wingers.

He’d be a sensational statement capture for Arteta this summer, however with no Champions League football on the horizon for next season, it is unclear whether Gnabry would be preferring an emotional return.

In 171 appearances for the German giants, he’s recorded 64 goals and 40 assists further highlighting how much he’s improved in front of goal since his early year struggles in north London.

It would indeed be a dream homecoming return for the Gunners faithful if Gnabry were to come back to the Emirates this summer, but that move may have to remain a pipe dream for Arteta.
