Arsenal transfer target Victor Osimhen will cost an eye-watering £100m, according to journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

THE LOWDOWN: STRIKER SEARCH

The Gunners reportedly remain on the hunt for a new striker in this summer’s transfer window, with the contracts of both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah expiring at the end of the season.

While either of those could potentially pen a new deal, there is certainly scope for Mikel Arteta to bring in reinforcements to boost his attacking options.

One player that has reportedly emerged on Arsenal’s radar is the Napoli hitman and a major update from the Italian journalist has emerged regarding his future.

THE LATEST: £100M COST

According to journalist Di Marzio, if the north London giants are to sign Osimhen, it’ll cost them £100m.

Speaking to wettfreunde, he said:

“I can’t imagine him being sold for €80m because he was signed for €70m. Aurelio de Laurentiis is very smart when it comes to signing and very tricky when he has to sell. So I don’t think he’s going to let Osimhen go for under €100m – minimum. So it will depend on which club in the Premier League will have that money for a single player.

“Clearly Arsenal need a player like him because he has a fantastic attitude. He would be perfect for Arsenal, Manchester United or even PSG. PSG, if they have to buy another striker because Mbappe goes to Real Madrid and if Mauro Icardi is also sold.”

The Gunners could reportedly face competition from Premier League rivals Man Utd for the Nigerian’s signature.

United are eyeing a rebuild under incoming manager Erik ten Hag and they’re prepared to back him this summer.

Newcastle United are also said to be keen.

VERDICT: BREAK THE BANK

Osimhen would be some signing for the Gunners based on his record of a goal every 127 minutes this season.

Journalist Zach Lowy believes that the 23-year-old has “everything it takes” to become “one of the best strikers of his generation”, while Emmet Gates has billed the Nigerian’s potential as “frightening.”

The £54m-rated hitman has bagged 17 goals in 29 appearances this season, and has 27 strikes in 59 matches for the Azzurri overall (via Transfermarkt).

With Arsenal currently struggling for goals consistently from their frontmen, especially Lacazette, Arteta will certainly feel obliged the break the bank for the former LOSC Lille forward.

While the Frenchman has excelled in his creation of goals with seven assists so far this campaign, he’s only notched a disappointing four league goals in comparison to Osimhen’s 17.

One can only imagine the position the club could be in right now, had they possessed the clinical touch of the 18-time Super Eagles hitman upfront, which suggests the Gunners must go all out for him in this summer.
