According to reports, Arsenal remain interested in a deal to bring Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha to the Emirates…

THE LOWDOWN: ONE YEAR LEFT

The 29-year-old has one year remaining on his deal at Crystal Palace and with no current talks of a new deal for the Ivorian international, he may have to be sold rather than be allowed to run his contract down, so Premier League clubs could have a good chance of landing his signature this summer.

Zaha has played nearly 300 games in the Premier League and boasts double figures for league goals in three of his last four seasons at Selhurst Park, but he may not be a value-for-money acquisition.

The £36m-rated star earns £130k-per-week in South London and reports are emerging surrounding a move across London.

THE LATEST: REMAIN INTERESTED

According to Turkish transfer journalist Ekrem Konur, the Gunners remain interested in the Ivorian.

The Eagles are said to be willing to offer him a new contract to remain in South London but the 29-year-old does not intend to accept.

Relegation-threatened Everton are also reportedly interested in the player.

THE VERDICT: EXPENSIVE OUTLAY

Whilst Zaha – who has 13 goals and two assists this term – would undoubtedly be an upgrade on the current wide options for the Arteta, he might not represent good value.

Also considering the current blend of young and exciting crop of players at the Spanish coach’s disposal, recruiting the former Manchester United star will disrupt what the club is trying to build at the Emirates.

At the age of 29 and valued at £36m by Transfermarkt and his contract winding down, the Ivory Coast star would be an expensive outlay for KSE, and there could almost certainly be smarter alternatives sought elsewhere.
