According to reports, Arsenal have not pulled out of the race to sign Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans completely.

THE LOWDOWN: LONG STANDING INTEREST

The Gunners have been strongly linked with the Belgian maestro in recent weeks as the Mikel Arteta looks to significantly strengthen his squad for the 2022/23 campaign.

As per a report by The Sun in May, the Belgian was set to join Arsenal in a possible £40m deal this summer.

However, according reports, the north London outfit have been said to have cooled their interest in the former AS Monaco ace, as the club seeks to push through other priorities in the market.

Now, latest reports suggest otherwise.

THE LATEST: NOT YET PULLED OUT

Charles Watts reporting for Goal, has claimed that Arsenal haven’t yet pulled out of the race for Tielemans completely.

Tielemans reportedly remains on Arsenal’s radar, and they could try again for his signature later on in the window.

According to Watts, it depends on what other business the Gunners get done.

THE VERDICT: RELIEF FOR SUPPORTERS

The news that the Gunners remain in the hunt for the £49.5m-rated maestro will come as a huge relief for the supporters, considering the amount of quality and experience the Belgian playmaker could offer Arteta’s midfield.

Since he joined Leicester City in 2019, the Sint-Pieters-Leeuw-born star has featured in 119 Premier League outings at the King Power becoming Brendan Rodgers’ metronomic and trustworthy lieutenant during that period.

Tielemans represents a sturdy upgrade on Arteta’s current options and could come in the the Gunners side an become an instant hit from the get go.

The 25-year-old is excellent ball-playing midfielder, possessing the class and quality to distribute and orchestrate play as well as the panache to perform silky passes to his more advanced teammates. The Belgian averaged 19.17 touches in the attacking third per 90 and maintaining a shot-creating actions average of 2.97 per 90 last season.

Equally, the midfielder also compares well to others across Europe’s top five leagues for his ball-playing qualities, ranking in the top 12% for progressive passes and the top 17% for attempted passes.

Such an all-round talent is rare to find – particularly for a reported fee of around just £30m – and considering just how crucial the Belgian could quickly be for the Gunners providing he moves, that figure seems an absolute snip for KSE to act on. Tielemans is a must have.

AND in other news, Arsenal left frustrated by low-ball offer from Serie A outfit for £26m ace…
