Hector Bellerin has made it clear where his future lies, after admitting he would like to continue his career in Spain with Real Betis.

THE LOWDOWN: SPARKLING SEASON

The 27-year-old Spaniard is currently on loan at Real Betis and has enjoyed a sparkling season, helping the club win the Copa del Rey in April, their first piece of silverware since 2005, and also helping them to an impressive 5th placed finish in the La Liga table.

The Seville-based club are reportedly ready to negotiate for the defender’s services on a permanent basis at the end of the season.

Earlier this month, it was reported that Bellerin could yet stay at the Emirates for another season but now it seems that the wheels will be soon in motion for his departure on a permanent basis.

THE LATEST: POSITION CLEAR

Speaking to Betis TV’s  ‘All Green’, (via Fabrizio Romano), he said:

“I have made my position clear to both Betis and Arsenal: I want to stay at Betis.

“Now we have two months to find the best solution. I made an effort to come here and I am ready to make any effort to stay at Betis again”.

THE VERDICT: PERFECT SENSE

It is safe to say that the £18m-rated full-back has enjoyed a great spell in Seville and discovered a new lease of life after his difficult period in north London.

The Badalona-born star has this campaign started 22 of Betis’ 38 La Liga games and 32 appearances in all competitions, registering five assists.

Arteta previously praised him as an “exceptional player and an incredible person” when he left on loan last summer, but has since replaced him with Takehiro Tomiyasu who is currently impressing within his new environment.

The reason the 27-year-old left the Emirates in the first place was to get first-team football, and he has been rewarded in abundance under former Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini. Therefore, a permanent stay at Betis makes perfect sense for the player.
