GOAL Journalist Charles Watts has confirmed that Arsenal are interested in signing Oleksandr Zinchenko in the transfer market.

Having just missed out on the top four at the end of the season, the Gunners will likely look to improve their squad to go one better next year with some exciting transfers this summer.

Indeed, Manchester City man Gabriel Jesus is already high up on their list of targets, and it seems a deal could be close.

Also the club are also interested in bringing Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans to the Emirates this summer, as Mikel Arteta looks to bolster his options in the creative department.

While speaking on his own YouTube channel, Watts named another Etihad player in Zinchenko as someone who could also be arriving in north London.

However, while confirming the interest in the 25-year-old ace is genuine, he suggested that a possible transfer has gone no further than the initial stages just yet.

The journalist explained: “This is a really interesting one, now Arsenal are interested in Oleksandr Zinchenko.

“Certainly from people you speak to up in the north, in and around Manchester City, there has been interest expressed by Arsenal in Zinchenko.

He then added: “Now that’s all it is at the moment – it is interest, it hasn’t gone any further than that.”

Our thoughts…

Still young, possessing bags of experience and having played semi-regularly in a star-studded squad over the last few seasons, we believe Zinchenko stands out as a superb option for the Gunners.

The £22.5m-rated Ukraine international’s versatility could also be a great asset for Arteta, adept at full-back and almost anywhere in an advanced midfield role (WhoScored).

In 15 total appearances in City’s Premier League triumph, the Shakhtar Donetsk academy graduate has contributed considerably when called into action, picking up an impressive average SofaScore rating of 7.07 providing four assists, as well as creating 3 big chances, averaging 1.1 key passes, but also averaging 1.9 tackles and 0.9 interceptions per game highlighting his influence both in Guardiola’s attack and defence.

While a move may be difficult, with Zinchenko’s high valuation potentially coming as a stumbling block, there is little denying he would upgrade Arteta’s roster at the Emirates.

AND in other news, Arsenal add £15.3m-rated Haarlem-born pass-master to list of summer targets…
