Arsenal have come to an agreement with Manchester City over the signing of Ukraine international Oleksandr Zinchenko.

THE LOWDOWN: ARSENAL CONTINUE SPENDING SPREE

Arsenal are now on the verge of announcing their fifth summer signing, after reaching an agreement with Manchester City over the sale of Oleksandr Zinchenko. The Gunners have been rather active in the transfer window, having brought in Matt Turner, Marquinhos, Fabio Vieira and Gabriel Jesus.

After seeing failed bids for Lisandro Martinez, Zinchenko emerged as the next priority target for Arsenal, with City ready to let the player leave if they received a ‘decent’ offer. Mikel Arteta had both Kieran Tierney and Nuno Tavares as his go-to options at left-back last season but the latter failed to impress as a reliable deputy.

For City, Zinchenko has featured more on the left side of defence while he is deployed in a central midfield role for national side Ukraine. Arsenal moved quickly to sign the 25-year-old and it appears an agreement had been reached between all parties involved.

THE LATEST: ARSENAL STRIKE BARGAIN DEAL

As per a report from David Ornstein on The Athletic, Arsenal now have a deal in place to sign Zinchenko from Manchester City.

The 25-year-old has reportedly agreed personal terms on a four-year contract and will leave City’s pre-season tour in the US to undergo his medical. City have also accepted an offer worth £35million in total, taking Arsenal’s summer spending to around £120m.

Zinchenko will also become the second Manchester City player to join Arsenal this summer and will reunite with Jesus at the Emirates. The Ukrainian joined City from PSV back in 2017 but failed to break into Guardiola’s first team.

THE LATEST: GOOD MOVE

As severally mentioned, Zinchenko to Arsenal is a deal that suits all parties involved. The Ukrainian midfielder will be afforded more game time at the Emirates and will have no issues settling in with Mikel Arteta’s style of play.

Seeing the deal over the line means Arsenal can now move on to other targets and possibly address the burning need to sign another attacking midfielder.

Speaking recently about the club’s transfer plans, Mikel Arteta insists Arsenal are still trying to ‘improve’

“Until the end of the market we will keep trying to improve the squad and there are so many parties involved and sometimes things are not as quick as you want.”

It would be interesting to see if the Gunners make any more additions before the end of the window and more importantly, who it might be.
