Arsenal have reportedly been handed a chance to sign France forward Marcus Thuram in the January window.

THE LOWDOWN: WINTER BUSINESS

Arsenal have been working hard after a successful summer transfer business, identifying credible talents to add quality to the side in the upcoming window.

Players like Ruben Neves and Manuel Locatelli have been linked with a move to the Emirates, while Mikel Arteta has been keen to snap up Marcos Asensio from Real Madrid.

A report has now emerged that Arsenal could be interested in a striker who is currently at the World Cup in Qatar with the France National team.

THE LATEST: STRIKER LINK

Arsenal have been linked with Borussia Monchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram in recent weeks and according to a report, the Gunners are in the race with a number of European sides to sign the France international.

Recently, 90Min reported that Arsenal have sent scouts to watch Thuram in action for a while, with a view to moving for him in the future.

The 25-year-old scored an impressive 13 goals and four assists from just 17 appearances in all competitions before the World Cup break, and that earned him a place in Didier Deschamps’ France squad for the 2022 World Cup.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, speaking to GiveMeSport, believes Thuram is certainly a good option for Arsenal.

“Yes, Thuram could be an opportunity because he’s a player who will be available on a free next summer,” said Romano.

“He is not extending his contract and so there are many clubs interested in him from Italy, from England and from France.”

THE VERDICT: VALUABLE OPTION

Thuram is a valuable option and currently fits the profile for Mikel Arteta’s side. The French forward is in his final year at Monchengladbach, so he could be available for a bargain price in January and for nothing in the summer.
