According to a report, Arsenal could be looking in the direction of former Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham.

THE LOWDOWN: SUCCESSFUL SUMMER WINDOW

Arsenal enjoyed some good deals in the summer and that improved the side, which has been visible in their unprecedented start to the new season. The Gunners are currently top of the log and the summer signings have played a part in it.

After failing to land a midfielder and winger in the closing moments of the window, Arsenal have been in the market to identify a few players that could improve the squad by January or next Summer.

One of the players to be linked with Mikel Arteta’s side is a former rival striker who is keen on returning to England.

THE LATEST: POTENTIAL RETURN TO THE PL

It appears that Mikel Arteta is considering making an audacious bid to land former Chelsea star Tammy Abraham.

According to Football London, the Gunners could revisit their interest in the Roma striker Tammy Abraham in the coming windows.

Meanwhile, according to Corriere dello Sport, the 24-year-old doesn’t see his future in Italy, and Arsenal could capitalize if there is enough substance in the claim. This simply means that the former Swansea man is keen on returning to the Premier League at some stage, having left Chelsea just over a year ago.

England international Abraham was Chelsea’s first-choice striker before the arrival of Romelu Lukaku last summer. He eventually moved to the Italian capital where has scored 29 goals in 61 games for Roma under former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.

Although the striker has ruled out the possibility of returning to England in the past, it now appears that he has changed his mind, which has put Arsenal and others on red alert.

THE VERDICT: INDIFFERENT FEELING

At present, apart from Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah is the only other natural centre-forward available to Arteta, Bringing in another a-list striker like Abraham will further limit the chances of Nketiah who just extended his contract.

In addition, Abraham won’t be coming in to play second fiddle to Jesus, having left Chelsea because of the arrival of Lukaku. Besides, Arsenal look balanced in a 4-3-3 right now and the arrival of the former Chelsea man could force a tactical switch.

Nketiah needs the backing of the manager at this time, as Abraham would definitely be an expensive option. On the other hand, Folarin Balogun has continued to excel in Ligue 1 and Arsenal can look at this side as well.
