Arsenal have reportedly made an inquiry for Leandro Paredes of Paris Saint-Germain, but the player is keen to seal a move to Juventus.

THE LOWDOWN: SEARCH FOR A MIDFIELDER

Arsenal and Arteta have found themselves in a serious dilemna at the moment following Mohammed Elneny’s injury and Thomas Partey’s absence. Diminutive midfielder Lucas Torreira left earlier this summer and has not been replaced, leaving the Spanish manager forced to enter the market in search of a solution.

Earlier this month, the Gunners reportedly had talks with AC Milan over star midfielder Sandro Tonali, and it seems the North London outfit have asked about another midfielder who is heading to Italy.

Brazilian midfielder Arthur Melo and long-term target Youri Tielemans were top of the list for long but none of those links have materialized to anything concrete yet. With just few hours to the close of the transfer window and coupled with Elneny’s recent injury, Arsenal might be forced to get an emergency option.

THE LATEST: PAREDES INQUIRY

According to Romeo Agresti, Arsenal have made a serious inquiry about Leandro Paredes of PSG. However, the player is on the verge of completing a move to Juventus before the end of the window.

In addition, Di Marzio confirms that Arsenal have made contact over the potential signing of Paredes, but add that the player wants to respect his intial agreement with Juventus. On his part, Marco Guidi claims PSG would prefer to send Paredes to Arsenal, despite the player’s desires.

Meanwhile, Paredes had already agreed terms with the Serie A club, and he is expected to have his medical on Wednesday.

THE VERDICT: OUT OF REACH

Paredes would have been a good addition to the squad at this time when there is a mini-injury crisis, but the player is currently focusing on a move to Juventus, which makes Arsenal’s pursuit difficult.

The Gunners have options like Mohammed Elneny (injured), Thomas Partey (injured), Granit Xhaka and Albert Sambi Lokonga in midfield but it will clearly not be enough to see Arsenal through the campaign. It is quite important to sign another midfielder before the close of the window but it remains to be seen if the club will opt to go that route.
