Arsenal could make up to three statement signings this summer, according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

THE LOWDOWN: JESUS NO.1 TARGET

According to The Athletic, Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus is Arsenal’s no.1 striker target for the upcoming transfer window.

The Gunners are on the lookout for a new frontman, with Alexandre Lacazette out of contract next month.

To snap up the former Palmeiras star, Brazilian Goal claims the Gunners will have to pay €60m (£51m) for the 25-year-old, who could see less game time at the Etihad next season following City’s sensational move of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund.

Elsewhere, Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin, AS Roma’s Tammy Abraham and LOSC Lille’s Jonathan David have also been heavily linked with the Gunners in recent weeks, and there is a belief that Mikel Arteta can acquire some of his top targets despite missing out on Champions League football for next season.

THE LATEST: STATEMENT SIGNINGS

Taylor is expecting Arsenal to make possibly three huge signings this summer, including two strikers.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the Daily Express journalist said: “I think now it’ll be about adding quality options, maybe two or three substantial statement signings like Jesus. Obviously, striker will be an area they will look to target; that will be a priority, and they’ll bring in at least two.”

THE VERDICT: IMPRESSIVE

If Arteta is able to secure his long-term targets for Arsenal this summer, despite missing out on Champions League football to their fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur, it will certainly be an impressive achievement for the club.

As well as Jesus, Arsenal seem to have a strong interest in Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans.

The Telegraph recently reported that Arteta is pushing the club to make an opening £25m bid for the Belgium international, who will be a free agent next year when his contract at the King Power Stadium expires.

Providing the Gunners complete at least two of those signings, Arteta’s squad will have been bolstered considerably with two quality additions ready to come in and make an instant impact on a squad that has been moulded and shaped superbly by the former Manchester City coach.

If Arsenal really possess the ambitions to match the likes of Liverpool, the two Manchester clubs, Chelsea and Spurs, then they would really need to push hard in acquiring their top targets in the coming weeks.

AND in other news, Arsenal remain interested in £130k-per-week PL star, could be an expensive outlay for KSE
