Arsenal must sign Sassuolo’s exciting young striker Gianluca Scamacca this summer.

Reports from earlier this month claimed the Gunners have already had a bid turned down for the Italy striker, with Calciomercato claiming Arsenal submitted a bid of around £30million.

The Gunners are set for a busy transfer window where the focus will be placed on strengthening the current squad with quality in a bid to further their ambitions under Mikel Arteta at the Emirates Stadium.

With Alexandre Lacazette on an expiring contract this summer, the club are continuously on the search for a consistent goalscorer who can fire them to glory next season.

The 23-year-old Italian striker has finally established himself in the Sassuolo first-team after loan stints at Cremonese, PEC Zwolle, Ascoli and Genoa.

He has scored 16 goals in 36 Serie A appearances this season, averaging one every 117 minutes.

And Arsenal are believed to be keeping tabs on the Italian hot prospect, who is a player Arteta must sign due to his stunning huge ceiling and potential.

Ex-Italy U21 coach Luigi Di Biagio previously commented on his all-round game, saying:

“He can become a very high-level centre-forward.

“He has the technique of a 1.75 m tall player and the physicality of a 1.95 m tall player, like him. And then he is complete: right foot, left, head, he attacks from deep, but also plays on the edge for his teammates.”

His goalscoring record in the Serie A also proves that he can score goals on a regular basis, along with being a complete player up front, something the Gunners have lacked since the days of Thierry Henry and Robin Van Persie – a player well-versed in the art of scoring but also one who is incredibly influential in the final third.

Nicknamed “Il Bomber”, the £27m-rated hitman has previously been described as “deadly” by talent scout Jacek Kulig and dubbed “a bit Zlatan-ish” by sports journalist Maxi Angelo.

The days of a lumpy and lanky centre-forward are numbered. However, mobile 6′5″ strikers that possess a dominant athletic profile with a well-rounded – though still developing – technical skillset? Every team can certainly use one of those, and these calibre of forwards are in high demand, not least this silky Italian freight train.

While his frame, looks and physical features may scream danger zone in some quarters, he plays with the elegance and beauty that is often associated with the prestigious country that he hails from.

At just 23-years of age and having his best season to date — 0.67 goals per ninety minutes played — he appears to be ready for the next step.

In just his first full season in the Italian top flight, the Roma-born forward has excelled beyond expectations, scoring 16 goals in 36 outings, also becoming one of the division’s most devastating finishers.

The youngster has shown enough potential for Davide Ballardini, one of his managers at Genoa, to liken the 22-year-old to a young Christian Vieri.

Physically, the best historical comparison is indeed to a young Zlatan Ibrahimović, to whom Scamacca is frequently compared. A comparison of their technical qualities can be made too. Like Ibrahimović, especially when he was younger, Scamacca is capable of being a nuisance to defenders from anywhere in the final third.

He will be an elite capture at the Emirates considering his phenomenal potential and impressive prowess in front of goal.
