Arsenal have reportedly ‘made contact’ with Paulo Dybala’s representatives ahead of a possible move to the Premier League this summer

THE LOWDOWN: PREMIER LEAGUE LINKS

The 28-year-old, who currently plays for Juventus, held talks with Tottenham Hotspur back in 2019 when Mauricio Pochettino was in charge, but they failed to reach an agreement before the transfer deadline due to issues with his image rights.

The striker is expected to leave the Serie A giants when his contract expires at the end of the current season though, and with four Premier League clubs said to be interested in his services, the chances of him staying in Italy beyond this campaign are now highly unlikely.

Sports Witness relayed an update from Sky Sports Italia regarding Dybala on Friday. They claimed that the Argentine’s agent, Jorge Antun, ‘is in London’ to ‘test the waters’ and ‘listen to proposals’.

And now it seems, Arsenal have made an approach for the decorated forward.

THE LATEST: MADE CONTACT

According to ESPN, the Gunners’ hierarchy are exploring alternatives and one of the first names on their list of backup options is Juventus contract rebel Dybala.

The 28-year-old will leave Turin at the end of the season – and has already been given a tearful farewell – and is currently in the process of deciding his next destination.

Contrary to reports he has chosen to join Inter Milan, Dybala is still exploring his options and would be open to leaving Italy.

Arsenal have spoken with his representatives to find out what personal terms the striker is seeking, with Dybala expected to demand a large salary and big signing-on fee given that he is available for nothing.

THE VERDICT: STATEMENT SIGNING

If the opportunity arises for the Gunners to sign the forward, then it’s an absolute no-brainer of a deal and could well represent a statement signing from Mikel Arteta.

The £222k-per-week star has been prolific for Juventus so far this season, where he has made an impressive 21 goal contributions in just 38 appearances in all competitions, as per Transfermarkt.

The north London outfit are on the search for a new striker this summer, with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah’s contracts at the Emirates expiring this summer which means Arteta will be looking to add goals to his squad for next season.

The Argentinian star nicknamed ‘La Joya’ meaning ‘The Jewel’ could potentially hit two birds with one stone as he is a player possessing the qualities to both score goals and create them.

Whilst registering 15 goals and six assists in 1,982 minutes of football for Juventus this season, he also according to FBref ranks fourth in the whole of Serie A for goal-creating actions per 90 (0.66) and sixth for shot-creating actions per 90 (4.73) highlighting that he is perfectly capable of providing goals for his teammates as well as scoring them himself.

Former Arsenal striker and pundit Kevin Campbell described the £36m-rated star as a “quality” player possessing the ability to “unlock defences”.He wouldn’t cost KSE a penny in terms of a transfer fee this summer, a potentially game-changing bargain indeed.AND in other news, Arsenal tie down prolific academy wonderkid to new long-term deal – report..
