Arsenal target Piero Hincapie, who impressed at the World Cup, is reportedly available for a decent fee.

THE LOWDOWN: TRANSFER BUSINESS

Several players have been listed alongside the Gunners since the summer transfer window ended. Although it was a fruitful business in the summer, Mikel Arteta is keen to bolster the squad ahead of a defining second half of the season.

Manuel Locatelli, Ruben Neves and Danilo are some of the players to have been linked with a move to the Emirates and it seems more names will be mentioned before the window officially opens.

THE LATEST: ANOTHER TARGET

According to a report by Italian outlet Calciomercato, Hincapie could be reportedly available for around €30 million.

Arsenal and Tottenham are among the clubs keen on signing him, but the Ecuadorian defender’s agent says there are no official bids for his services yet.

The 20-year-old has been impressive for Bayer Leverkusen in Germany and was a constant face in Ecuador’s backline at the World Cup in Qatar.

The report claims Hincapie is reportedly valued at between €25 million and €30 million, which is seen as a fair asking fee, considering they signed him from Argentinian side Talleres for just €6.5 million two years ago.

THE VERDICT: NOT NEEDED

If there’s a position where the Gunners have enough cover, it is at the heart of the defence. Rob Holding, William Saliba, Ben White and Gabriel Magalhaes have shared the minutes this season and have done well as a unit.

These collection of centre-backs aren’t just good but are young and still have a lot of years in them. Recently, Gabriel signed a new deal and it is expected that Saliba will sign a new deal at the Emirates. Unless one of them of leaving soon, getting a new central defender isn’t important.

However, Arteta’s side needs a midfielder and a striker at the moment and those positions should be the priority.
