Arsene Wenger has shared his thoughts about Arsenal making a genuine title challenge and securing a return to Champions League football next season.

THE LOWDOWN: DIFFERENT ARSENAL

Arsenal legend Arsene Wenger believes his former side boast a solid chance of going all the way to win the Premier League this season.

Mikel Arteta’s side sit top of the table after six rounds of fixtures, winning five of their opening matches.

Arsenal will head into the September international break in first place, provided they beat Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium in Sunday’s midday kick-off.

Impressive that their esteemed manager sees success back on the table for the London club, and it looks like Betvictor promo code also see a rapid improvement in the team, hence the vastly improved odds.

Wenger led the Gunners to three league titles – including the club’s last in 2003/04, going the entire 38-game season unbeaten – across his 22-year stay in north London. He departed in 2018 and has since taken up a role at FIFA as their Chief of Global Football Development.

THE LATEST: SURPRISE COMMENTS

Wenger rarely comments on his former club, but speaking as a pundit, he disclosed his excitement at Arsenal’s hopes of returning to the Champions League and competing for major titles this season.

“I would say they are moving in the right direction. I honestly think there is no weak position in the team…they are young, promising players and they have bought well this year,” Wenger said.

“There is no completely dominating team this season and Arsenal has a chance with the potential that is there. We used to be in the top four and why not again? You cannot even rule out the fact that they can fight for the title and hopefully they can do it.”

Poetically, Arsenal have not competed for the Premier League title since Wenger’s exit, while they have not finished in the top four since 2016.

THE VERDICT: ARTETA MUST DELIEVER

It has been ages ago since Arsenal got this much public backing to mount a genuine challenge. Arteta received much backing as well in the just concluded summer window and it is up to the Spaniard to keep his side competitive until the end of the season.

The Gunners have started the season on a rather positive note but it is now a question of just how much longer they can keep up their brilliant performances.
