Arsenal legend Ian Wright has expressed his worry over striker Gabriel Jesus’ goal drought.

THE LOWDOWN: INFLUENTIAL JESUS

The Brazilian has added a bit of dynamism to Arsenal’s attack since his move from Manchester City in the summer. Jesus has been able to form a solid partnership with Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli in Arsenal’s attack this term.

That partnership, in which Jesus has contributed five goals and six assists, had helped the Gunners climb to the summit of the Premier League log.

However, the 25-year-old has failed to score in any of his past seven games and it has become a worry for a club Legend.

THE LATEST: PUNDIT’S WORRY

Arsenal icon Ian Wright has revealed he is concerned about the goal-scoring form of striker Gabriel Jesus.

Despite his lack of goals in his past seven games, the 25-year-old has still continued to have an impact in the forward areas of the Arsenal attack.

Amid the current state of things at Arsenal, Ian Wright is worried that Jesus hasn’t got the same scoring rhythm.

He told the Kelly and Wrighty show: “When you look at Jesus, and you look at the amount of work he’s doing outside of the box, he has got the energy to get in there. But even on Sunday, he had two very good chances, which I think that a player of that calibre should have taken because it was all in his hands – and he didn’t.

“So that’s a little bit of a worry because people are constantly talking about: ‘well, he’s not a natural finisher’. He started the season on fire, and then we’re seeing a couple of misses now.

“Now, everybody’s starting to say: ‘well, we told you so’. But we’re talking about somebody who does contribute a lot, will score goals, and as long as the team’s scoring, what are you going to do?”

THE VERDICT: A WORRY BUT….

Ian Wright may have raised a point concerning Jesus, but that doesn’t define his place in the team. The Brazilian has made up for that in assists and an excellent work rate for the Gunners and his importance cannot be overemphasized.

With time, the goals will come but as things stands, he is still relevant to Arsenal’s play.
