Brazilian club side Palmeiras are set to change their stance on wantaway midfielder Danilo.

THE LOWDOWN: ARSENAL CHASE

Arsenal have been making attempts to sign Danilo for a while now. During the past summer transfer window, the Gunners tried to bring him in after an injury crisis broke out in the side’s midfield.

However, the South American club did not shift ground and that forced Arsenal to look elsewhere, which also amount to nothing.

Couple of weeks back, Arsenal signalled their readiness to go back for him and it appears the club are willing to change their stance on the midfielder.

THE LATEST: CHANGE OF MIND

According to a report, Palmeiras would consider an Arsenal bid for Danilo even if they receive the same amount that was rejected in the summer.

Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola in his report revealed that Palmeiras would most likely negotiate with Arsenal if the Gunners present the same offer they made in the summer.

Mikel Arteta’s transfer team reportedly offered €25m at the end of the summer window, which was turned down at the time. But that same amount could be enough to convince Palmeiras in January.

This also affirms the other report by ESPN Brasil which states that Palmeiras are open to negotiating if they receive an offer of €20m, let alone €25m.

The main reason for the rejection in the summer was because they needed Danilo for their Copa Libertadores campaign and with that out of the way now, the club are more open to letting Danilo go.

THE VERDICT: GOOD NEWS

Mikel Arteta and Edu should be pleased with this development. Danilo is a fine young talent with valuable experience that could help strengthen the Arsenal midfield for the second stage of the season.

Given that the fee isn’t outrageous, Arsenal could be willing to invest in another Brazilian to add to the growing list of the South Americans at the club.
