Arsenal still have hope in their pursuit of Fiorentina midfielder Jordan Veretout, despite the Frenchman being on the verge of a move to Napoli.
Gunners Head CoachUnai Emery is looking to make significant changes to his squad this summer though the team’s failure to qualify for the Champions League means they will have a reduced transfer budget believed to be around £35million.
Veretout endured an underwhelming spell with Aston Villa, but according to his agent, is open to the idea of returning to the Premier League after two outstanding years in Italy with Fiorentina.
That’s despite seemingly being nailed on for a move to Napoli.
Veretout’s agent, Mario Giuffredi, insists the Frenchman’s future is yet to be decided amid an atmosphere of uncertainty at Fiorentina.
As reported by Metro Sport, he said: ‘As far as I know, Fiorentina have not given the all-clear for Veretout to join Napoli,’ Giuffredi told Radio CRC. ‘The problem is they [Fiorentina] don’t currently have a director of sport, so I don’t know who to communicate with.
‘I also have no guarantees that Vincenzo Montella will remain as coach, it’s all up in the air after the club’s takeover [by Rocco Commisso].’
