Alan Shearer has criticised Alexis Sanchez following his slow start to life at Old Trafford.

The Chilean left Arsenal in January in a straight swap with Henrikh Mkhitaryan. However, Sanchez has netted just once in the Premier League for the Red Devils and has struggled to impress Manchester United fans.

The Chile international was left on the bench by Jose Mourinho for Man Utd’s FA Cup quarter-final win over Brighton and Hove Albion at Old Trafford on Sunday.

And Shearer reckons Sanchez is a shadow of his former self.

The all time Premier League record goalscorer is quoted as saying by the Daily Star: “They (United) signed Alexis Sanchez and it looks like they have got his twin brother.

Sanchez has struggled at Man Utd so far

“He looks like the little boy the lost. It is the coach’s job to get the best out of the players.

“When you look at the players they had on the pitch against Sevilla, the likes of Lukaku, Sanchez and Rashford, they had enough quality on the pitch and they should have been able to get the win in front of their home supporters.”

Arsenal have been far from impressive since Sanchez’s departure. They lost the League Cup final and have fallen 33 points behind league leaders Manchester City. Yet after beating AC Milan in the Europa League last 16, the Gunners do still have an opportunity to return to Champions League football by winning the competition.
