Ex-Arsenal winger Andrey Arshavin has been brutally honest about what he thinks of Mesut Ozil.
The Gunners hero who famously shocked the world with his four goals at Liverpool in 2009 believes the Arsenal team would operate better if the Ozil was not in it.
Opinion on Ozil has been split right down the middle among Arsenal fans for years.
The German’s talent is unquestionable, but his inability to convert his silky style into results has often frustrated Arsenal fans.
Arshavin, who spent four years at the Emirates doesn’t feel the German World Cup winner is best suited to the current team and shouldn’t be a long team option for Mikel Arteta.
“”As a player of course I respect him. Mesut is a world class player,’ the former Russian international told 888Sport.
“But for me personally he slows down the game. I would prefer to use another player. Mikel, as we can see, is the opposite and plays him a lot.
“He has improved his game at Arsenal but still in the future I do not see him there.”
“For me Arsenal’s squad is not balanced.
‘Offensively they are very good and in attack they play very pretty football. It’s good to watch. But defensively – even in my period – Arsenal is weak.
“Sometimes that is down to injuries and sometimes they don’t have enough experience but I don’t know why this doesn’t change.”
